Go to the 2022 Season!
During the state fair, we demonstrated our robot and discussed its possibilities to everyone who came by our stand. It was amazing to see so many people interested in what we were doing and wanting to learn more.
Even better, we were able to generate some funds to assist us in obtaining the parts we require to continue perfecting our robot. We couldn't have done it without the encouragement and support of our community.
A GMC project management mentor advised us on how to carry out our projects. She joined our team at the Troy Public Library and taught us the five stages of project management: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing. To help us understand how this works, she gave us a tale about a boy. We realized that our plans were extremely similar, so we just added a few extra steps to ensure that we had completed everything.
On September 30th, seniors of our team attended the ASEI convention to present to many engineers in order to propagate stem and discover new mentors. We also listened to the other FTC and FLL teams that were present. Mr. Prashanth, an engineer, approached us about possible sponsorship. We learned of a few companies eager to sponsor and coach us, including Mesh Works, which sold cad software, and Harley-Davidson, where we shared our team profile with the STEAM industry.
This trip to the University of Michigan Arm Lab was an excellent opportunity to learn more about real-world technology and, more especially, the various ways in which this technology will touch our lives in the future. During our visit, We learned about the many components of a robot. For example, the arm robot we saw had seven joints. They created these joints to mimic the identical actions of a human being, which could aid with gripping objects and more! This was a very fun opportunity to interact with college students and communicate with other college students with PHDs. This visit, in fact, allowed us to dive deeper into certain future topics revolving around STEAM. They also took the opportunity to give us feedback and improvements on our own robot for next year's competitions.
